Hulya Erdal: The Recipe for Life

Hulya Erdal: The Recipe for Life

How One Moment Can Change Your Life Forever

7 years ago my life changed forever. In one dramatic moment, involving my now ex-husband and my son, my life would never be the same again.

For the 16 years leading up to this life-changing moment, I’d been married twice, affected by domestic abuse, had 3 children, no money, no self-esteem, depressed, and totally out of alignment with the life I’d dreamed for myself.

For the first time in my life, in April 2016, like a quick costume change at a fashion show, my life took a new path, and out of all of the mess that followed thereafter, I had the opportunity to get to know who I really was, and more than that, how the path my life was taking, was all in my hands.

My name’s Hulya and fast forward today, 2023, I share a happy home with my 3 children, living by the sea, running a business helping other women, like me, to overcome life’s adversities and become the truest, highest version of themselves. A version that they had lost, hidden, stopped believing in or simply forgotten ever existed.

I am a ‘Transformation Coach’ and Self-discovery expert, focusing my work with mostly mid-life women.

What is ‘transformational coaching’?

Coaching, unlike therapy, is a method of helping someone to grow, develop and rewrite their life. This involves a range of tools and steps from acceptance and releasing of what no longer serves your fullest potential, to bringing awareness of who you are and what you are capable of being, aligning yourself with values and intentions that resonate deep within.

This is a holistic approach to looking at your life, understanding old belief systems, negative thinking, cultural/social/family conditioning, and other external factors that can have an impact on the choices and decisions you make.

In my own 7 year journey, I studied and read a plethora of self-development and personal growth books from the likes of Dr Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, Lisa Nicholls, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Gay Hendricks, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Beckwith, Byron Katy, Kyle Cease, Gary Zukov, Abraham Hicks and more. I got coached, I had therapy, I did domestic abuse programmes, coach training and meditated and did yoga till I was healed

Now, through my business The Recipe for Life, I guide women all over the world to live a life they really want by harnessing the power of self-belief, motivation and action!

Hulya's mental wellness routine

Here are some of my top guiding steps and what I learned along the way…

Routine

I became a member of the 5am club of early risers! I found the routine very comforting, as it gave me 2 solid hours of blissful silence before my kids were awake, where I was able to practise yoga, meditate, study and journal.

Journaling

Never underestimate the power of a journal. Morning and night, call it a brain dump, a story book, whatever works for you. It’s important to write down your feelings, let yourself be guided to release the thoughts in your head. You’ll be surprised just how light you feel.

Fear and courage

Our brains are wired with an error alert system that sees new experiences as a threat, causing anxiety and fear in an attempt at stopping us from moving forward. We’re scared to change because bad habits are rewarded. We fear rejection, judgement, uncertainty, and failure and get stuck in old habits and negative thinking.

By knowing this, you can accept the feeling of fear and then harness the power of courage that is always inside you, guiding you to do things, in the face of fear, not in the absence of it.

Read a book

I’ve read so many. I listen on audible, read on Kindle, read in paperback, on my phone, on the train. I listen to podcasts when I’m driving, I watch YouTube videos. This is the knowledge you don’t get at school, college or uni. I am committed to a lifelong journey of learning and this will never change.

Believe in yourself

With any change, any journey you make, it’s important to believe in yourself. I learned that having total, pure, unequivocal faith, trust and belief in yourself was the magic sauce of life.

I hope you find some of my personal tools helpful. They worked for me and I know they will work for you too.

Life is full of new and wonderful opportunities but in order to allow the new in, we must first let go of the old.
