THE SCHOOL: Thoughtful Classes for Intelligent Lifelong Learners
Minderful Center is a private school for adult lifelong learners, offering a year-round program of academic and cultural classes, plus restaurant events, in classroom space at Temple Chai. Classes are open to all adults in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area who have a commitment to lifelong learning, keeping their minds active and their lives interesting. Minderful Center is the continuation, as a private school, of Scottsdale College’s non-credit community classes, which were closed after decades of serving the East Valley adult population. The school also offers social interaction with other well-educated, adults with similar intellectual & cultural interests.
THE LIFELONG LEARNERS
The school’s participants are mostly from Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, but people come from all around the Phoenix-metro area. There are no restrictions as to who can attend, but because it is a daytime program, most participants are retired, with many snowbirds in the winter months. Students are college-educated, well-traveled, intellectually curious and very interested in civic affairs, as well as local, national and international issues. The lifelong learners who attend the school include retired judges, doctors, attorneys, dentists, teachers, business executives and other professional groups.
Faculty are instructors from community college campuses, ASU retired and current faculty, plus active and retired professionals from a wide range of fields and associations (medical, political, financial, academic, research, media, religion, government, arts, etc.).
